BLACK URN “The Pangs of Our Covenant” E.P.

Black Urn came into the studio at the beginning of the year and laid down 3 songs for an E.P. but after mixing and mastering those 3 songs, came back in the studio and gave me the challenge of adding one more song to the E.P. I loved working on this project and trying to recreate a previous recording session is a great challenge for any recording engineer. If you are a fan of any genre of extreme metal, you’ll want to give this a listen, but particularly if you like your Doom Metal with a heavy dose of brutality.

DULL KNIVES: Self-Audit E.P.

Dull Knives came into the studio right after the New Year and busted out this E.P. of driving, noisy, hardcore and helped start the year off right.

5 songs. 10 minutes. No messing around. Give it a listen, and look to catch them live. Mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege

TRUE CROSS: Pure Divorce

What do you do when your friend calls you up, and asks you to help him finish a record, and oh by the way half the band is in L.A. at that very moment recording the drums and guitars? You spend Thanksgiving in the studio recording walls of guitars, and whispered vocals, and in between sessions lining up direct bass tracks recorded at another band members house. Unconventionally created and recorded across 3 States at 3 different times, but TRUE CROSS made a really cool sounding record, that would be unfair to pigeon hole as just ShoeGaze. Lots of melody and lots of noise.  Ex-Members of Trap Them, Transistor Transistor, Abigail Williams, Vehemence, and Landmine Marathon. Ultimately mixed and mastered by me. Give it a listen.

DIRT QUEEN- “Palace of Depression” 7″

Vinyl takes a long time to get done these days but this 7″ was well worth the wait. Feels like we recorded this stuff forever ago. Dirt Queen put a lot of time and effort into these 2 songs and I think the results speak for themselves. I loved working on their demo, and these 2 songs are a huge step forward. Would love to see people take notice and send these guys back into the studio to do a full length. They won’t be Philadelphia’s best kept secret for long. Mastering by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. The 7″ is limited to 100 physical copies, so mail order it quickly or pick one up at a show. https://dirtqueen.bandcamp.com/

JOSH ALVAREZ- “Better Days” E.P.

Hey, so it’s not always super loud guitars and drums around here. Joshua Alvarez came into the studio last month and recorded 6 songs of singer songwriter “Folk Punk”. Every single song has a least 1 different element than any other, and many have totally different instrumentation from each other. It was fun to record violin, acoustic guitar, spanish guitar, and some serious party vocals and handclaps. Give it a listen and look for Josh to be performing live in and around Philadelphia.

2015 Update

I wanted to mention some of the great projects I’ve been working since the start of the year. TRUE CROSS is currently in the mixing stages of their full length that I began recording last Thanksgiving, and it is quite the wall of guitars and shoegaze. I also just completed mixing 2 songs for local favorites SORE SAINTS that are coming out on 2 different split 7″s later in the year. Finally, I’m currently mixing 2 new songs for DIRT QUEEN, that I recorded, and couldn’t be more stoked on how those are turning out. Very excited for people to be hearing all these new recordings, until then check out these bands previous material and look out for their new stuff later this year.

DIRT QUEEN: Singles I

Dirt Queen came into the studio last month to record a couple of songs and I couldn’t be more stoked about how they came out. Add them to the ever growing list of Philadelphia bands playing a nice blend of catchy, grungy, noise rock/post-hardcore. Good Band. Good songs. Makes my job easy and fun.

Check out their homemade 6×12 guitar cabinet! Sounded great for both the live and overdubbed guitar.

TOSKA: EP I

Old and new friends TOSKA came into the studio last month and recorded 6 songs that you now stream from their bandcamp. I was looking forward to be recording a band featuring members of Hot Cross, Monster X, and .NEMA, and even more excited when they started laying down some seriously furious Metal and Hardcore. Brad Boatright from AudioSiege finished it off with a great mastering job. Look for TOSKA to be playing around the east coast this summer and order their six song tape via their bandcamp.

ANXIETY HAMMER DEMO

In January Anxiety Hammer came into the studio and busted out a real ripper of a demo in just one day. Really fun to work on. I love how destroyed and pushed everything sounds. Try and find a real copy of the demo if you can so you don’t have to listen to the crappy Soundcloud digital compression. Look for them to be playing around Philadelphia and surrounding areas.
